E.ON Sverige AB and our subsidiaries in Sweden are the data controllers for the information you provide to us at eon.se or directly to us in some other way. The first part of this page contains a brief and comprehensive description of the legislation and the way we handle personal data. Further down the page you will find links to each special area where there are more detailed descriptions of the processing of personal data.

We only process personal data when we have a legitimate purpose and we always process personal data with respect for your privacy. Sensitive personal data is processed only if there are particularly strong reasons and if there are legal requirements for it. We only disclose personal data to someone outside E.ON if it is clear that the legal conditions for this are met.

Collection of personal data

We use so-called cookies when visiting eon.se. These cookies are used as an aid to the visitor so that the person can easily access the correct information and adapt their visit to individual wishes. The visitor has the opportunity to say no or yes to cookies. The visitor can reject cookies by setting the browser according to these preferences.

The visitor may also voluntarily provide their personal data to us through the website and we may also access personal data when someone submits their data to us by letter, email, telephone, etc. or by obtaining data from public registers.

Legal basis for our processing of personal data

The legal basis differs depending on the type of processing of personal data that we carry out and it may be contract, legitimate interest, legal obligation, interests of fundamental importance or consent. The legal basis on which we base each treatment is apparent from the specific information associated with each service and processing.

Information to the data subject

When personal data is provided to us, the person who provides their personal data receives information about:

  • which E.ON company is responsible for the processing of personal data
  • for what purpose the personal data is collected
  • other information necessary for the personal data provider to be able to take advantage of his or her rights, such as information if there are other recipients of the data, as well as the right to apply for information and receive rectification.

If we collect the personal data ourselves and you do not know that we have that type of information, we will inform you.

Purposes

We only collect personal data for specific and legitimate purposes. Normally, the purpose is to perform a service requested by the person concerned. We do not process personal data for purposes that are incompatible with the original purpose. Information about the purpose of the specific case is given in connection with e-mail forms, contractual terms and the specific information associated with each service and processing.

Processing of personal data in third countries

In some cases, your personal data may be processed in a country outside the EEA. To ensure safe handling, we have taken appropriate protective measures. In most cases, this is in the form of an approved standard contract. You can find a copy of any existing agreements or other measures on our website.

Consent

If you have previously given consent, you can easily withdraw this. We will then not process additional personal data or update previously provided information about the person, if consent is a prerequisite for processing the personal data.

Marketing

Where personal data may be used for direct marketing purposes, this is stated in connection with the collection of personal data. Anyone who does not want personal data to be used for direct marketing can report this to us.

We do not conduct direct marketing towards people who are not interested in this. To ensure this, we match personal data against various registers for direct marketing such as the NIX register.

We want you to be satisfied with our marketing communication including your preferred channels for us to reach you. If you have any specific requests please contact our Customer Support.

Services we provide

Power outage information based on the selected location or address is a service we provide. If you use the service and allow us to use your current location, we will collect your GPS location data or address. This information is needed to view information about current power outages. As soon as we receive this information from you and the information about current outages in the specific area has been delivered to you, the GPS location information we have collected from you will be deleted.

Information to the customer when sending confirmations via SMS and e-mail

If we have collected your personal data such as your name, telephone and e-mail address in order to communicate with you, we may have obtained this information from you or from another source such as property owner or the former customer. The data may also have been obtained from public and private registers. We use this information to communicate with you when, for example, we confirm a move notification or that a payment has been received by text message or e-mail.

Handing over personal data to other parties

Personal data may be handed over to other companies within E.ON or to partners. It may be because we have a partnership that requires us to share certain tasks with our partners and it may be to perform the tasks requested by the person concerned. It may also be that we use data processors. When such surrender takes place, we give clear instructions on how the receiving party should process the personal data.

When surrendering, we always take into account the laws and other provisions governing the separation between electricity trading companies and electricity grid companies. This means that personal data cannot always be provided to other E.ON companies even if the person in question had wished to do so.

Personal data is normally not provided to companies in non-EU or EEA countries. If this happens, we first ensure that all the legal conditions are met.

Security

We always take the technical and organizational measures that are possible to protect the personal data processed. Our purpose in this is to ensure that the data is not lost, destroyed, manipulated or made available to unauthorized persons. We are striving to achieve a level of safety that is sufficiently high in view of the technical possibilities available.

Deletion

We do not retain personal data for longer than necessary. When personal data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymized. This applies, for example, where a question received by e-mail has been answered or when a contractual relationship has ended and the parties' dealings are finalised. In some cases, data may need to be stored for a longer period of time, for example for accounting purposes.

Right to receive information (register extract) and rectification

To ask for an information request, you can contact customer service.  Alternatively, you visit one of our receptions where you can apply for a register extract via a form. Bring a valid photo ID.

You have the right to request rectification or deletion of any personal data. Similarly, you can request limitation of our processing of your personal data. You also have the right to object to our processing of any personal data.

Right to Data Portability

If you have supplied certain personal data yourself, such as that you have, for example, consumed energy and thus given rise to a consumption pattern, you are entitled to dataportability. This can be used if, for example, it is appropriate to move consumption figures to a new vendor.

Detailed information about the handling of personal data in various products and services

Below you will find information about how we handle personal data in the current product or service.

Energy solutions (Electricity trading)

Data controller: E.ON Energilösningar AB

Legal basis for our processing of personal data

For our electricity sales, it is, agreement and legitimate interest that is the legal basis for our treatment. When it comes to customer relationship management, we use a legitimate interest as a legal basis when handling personal data for marketing, profiling, newsletters, statistics and analysis, product and service development. Balancing interests means that we value our interest in implementing it and your interest based on the privacy breach that this may entail with this handling.

Purposes

We always want to provide you as a customer with relevant information, offers and service and therefore handle personal data for customer relationship enhancing purposes. An example is that through selection target our communication to you, that is, you get customized information depending on where you live, what kind of contract you have, how much electricity you consume, etc. In the context of this work, there is so-called profiling.

Profiling is an automatic processing of personal data that means that we assess your needs or characteristics based on data we have received from you and obtained from other sources. Profiling means that we weigh up different personal data and categorize them. Categorization forms different audiences with similar characteristics and needs, simply to be able to direct relevant communication to you and improve your customer experience. An example of the target group is interested in the environment. An automatic treatment means that the assessment of your characteristics and needs is done automated according to certain criteria. No natural person is involved in the categorization of each case. The criteria vary depending on the type of profiling and situation.

Profiling aims to understand what information and offers you want to receive from us and how likely you are to change your electricity supplier. Examples of targeted communication are that we send information about solar cells to customers who live in a villa, but not to customers who live in an apartment if these customers did not expressly wish it.

Categories of personal data we process are customer information, purchase information, technical information, service information, demographic and visit-information on logged-in services. Examples of data in these categories are how long you have been a customer, your consumption, your choice of products, number of facilities, where and how you live, previous purchases, which of our digital services you use, age and data aimed at estimating your household's composition and lifestyle preferences. Examples of situations where profiling is used are marketing, needs-based offers, product and service development, statistics and analysis, newsletters and other information. Personal data may be disclosed to and collected from partners and authorities.

The information and offers made in the context of profiling are available to all customers if desired.

You can report at any time that you do not want your personal data to be used for profiling. Your cancellation is valid as long as you are an electricity trading customer at E.ON or until you choose to withdraw your deregistration. To unsubscribe, please contact our customer service.

Consent

If you have previously given consent, you can easily withdraw this. For example, you may have given a special consent to profiling. If you withdraw your consent, we will not process additional personal data or update previously provided information about you if consent is a prerequisite for processing the personal data.

Deletion

Your personal data will be stored while you are a customer of ours and most data will be deleted no later than 14 months after the customer relationship ends. In some cases, we are obliged to retain certain data by law, such as invoice data, otherwise only data is stored where we have a legitimate purpose to process the data.

Electrical cars and their effect on future energy consumption estimates

Data controller: E.ON Energilösningar AB

Legal basis for our processing of personal data

For data that is utilized for the development of consumption estimates, the legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest. We have carefully balanced the requirements for your personal integrity when compared to the requirements of a stable electrical power supply for all consumers.

Purposes

Your personal data is used in this project to allow us to measure the effect electrical vehicles have on the grid, specifically from the point of grid connection. This information allows us to manage the grid accurately and avoid power failures or the supply of electricity with poor quality.

We do this by comparing normal consumption values (typically at your power meter) to car charger grid consumptions. The data used to do this is the registration date of the car, the car registration address and the type of electrical vehicle. This allows us to better calculate loads in the grid and better allow us to plan for maintenance and grid development requirements.
