E.ON ectogrid™ is a closed grid with low temperatures where heat pumps and cooling machines in every building adjust the temperature according to need. In this process, each building sends excess heating or cooling to other buildings, depending on their needs. Through sharing, balancing, and storing energy in rotation, E.ON ectogrid™ efficiently uses all available energy flows before adding new energy. This drastically reduces energy consumption – and in turn costs and environmental impact.
Heating and cooling in one system
E.ON ectogrid™ produces both heating and cooling in the same system. It also balances the energy between buildings with different heating and cooling needs before supplying new energy.
By maximising the use of all available energy in the system, E.ON ectogrid™ brings new energy into the system only when conditions are favourable. This helps relieve the electricity grid and provide greater opportunities to use intermittent renewable energy sources.
Self-learning and smart
E.ON ectocloud™ cloud technology uses algorithms to optimise the energy flow and storage in E.ON ectogrid™ based on data covering seasons, weather, local energy production and energy prices.
